Aviation workers’ unions plan to stage a 24-hour nationwide strike at airports in Italy, beginning at 00:00 local time on 29 October. The strike has been called due to working conditions, shifts, and operational safety at airports. Ground handling operations at Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate are expected to be affected during the strike. Swissport Italia workers will also strike at Milan Linate Airport. Pisa and Florence airports, as well as Rome Fiumicino Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport, will also be affected.

PhilPost have provided an update on the ongoing impact of Typhoon Opong, which made landfall in Eastern Samar on the 25 September. The typhoon has affected several regions across the country and as a result, postal services in the affected areas are still facing delays in mail collection, processing and delivery until further notice. The affected areas are:- Antique, Oriental Mindoro, Iloilo, Samar, Bicol, Biliran Negros Occidental, Aklan, Masbate, Zamboanga City, and Northern Cebu. The entire Eastern, Central and Western Visayas regions and the city of Baguio.

Earthquake – PhilPost has informed us that a 6.9 magnitude earthquake impacted the CEBU province on the 30th September. A 7.6 magnitude earthquake then struck the province of Davao Oriental on the 10 October 2025. As a result, damage to various facilities and infrastructure in the region has been reported and may result win postal service delays in in the region.

Truck drivers in the Kolasib area of Mizoram, India, are planning four days of strike action and protests in the Kolasib district beginning 23 October. Drivers are demanding a solution to the deterioration of the 306 highway in the area. Disruptions are expected during the protest.

A fiber optic cable cut in Douala, Cameroon, has led to a nationwide internet outage. The outage has directly impacted customs operations in the country, with agents unable to provide proper clearances for goods. The outage also impacted custom operations in Central African Republic and Republic of Congo. Delays in cargo processing for imports and exports are expected until the issue is resolved.

The services of Vietnam Airlines have been affected due to the passage of Tropical Storm Fengshen, resulting in multiple flight cancelations on 22 and 23 October. Most affected airports include Phu Bai International Airport in Hue City and Danang International Airport in Da Nang, with the latter experiencing at least 79 flight delays at the moment of reporting. The disruptions are expected to last until weather conditions improve. Heavy rainfall caused flooding, inundating several low-lying areas and damaging coastal roads in parts of Hue City. Flight delays occurred at Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport (IATA: JNB) in South Africa due to the suspension of instrumentation flight procedures. About 200 flights have been impacted across multiple airports in South Africa including Richards Bay, Mthatha, and King Shaka airports.

Canada Post have informed us that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have now moved from a full national strike to rotating strikes from October 11 2025. The duration of the industrial action remains unknown but postal services have resumed from the evening of October 15 and we will begin despatching to Canada again. Disruption is still expected during the rotating strikes as Canada Post process any backlog on hand. We remain in regular communication with Canada Post and will provide any further updates as they become available.

Heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Fengshen has led to flooding across Luzon, Samar, and Panay in the Philippines and caused at least eight deaths in western Visayas and Quezon. According to sources, several domestic flights were cancelled, affecting 1,700 passengers. Business and logistics disruptions are likely to persist until floodwaters recede.

Thousands of trucks were stuck in long queues at the Kazakhstan-China border. The delays began from mid-September due to the tightening of customs inspection requirements by Kazakhstani authorities to curb the import of sanctioned goods from China into Russia. Shipping delays of three to five days are anticipated.

As a result, disruptions to bpost’s domestic as well as international logistics network, the letter and parcel-post deliveries were expected. In addition, all inbound and outbound flights at Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU) were cancelled. All departing and arriving flights were cancelled at Charleroi Airport, Belgium due to the nationwide strikes. The airport cited a lack of staff needed to perform operations as the reason for the cancellations.

The customs system was down in Gabon on October 14, due to power outages in Libreville. Reportedly, the customs clearance of inbound shipments was affected. Customs disruptions are likely to persist until the power supply is completely restored. It remains unclear how much backlog might have accumulated during the outage or how long it will take to clear the backlog.

Belgium Post have informed us that a 24-hour national demonstration will take place across Belgium by the country’s trade unions in protest against measures taken by the federal government. This action will cause disruptions in transport, public services and logistics, as well as Postal services on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. Flights will also be cancelled via Brussels Airport. As a result, delays are expected on the day and immediately after in case of any backlog.

The most affected areas include Argeș, Brăila, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Călărași, Dolj, Dâmbovița, Galați, Giurgiu, Ialomița, Iași, Ilfov, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Teleorman, Tulcea, Vrancea, Vâlcea, and the municipality of Bucharest. Canada Post wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that it has welcomed back employees represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), with effect from 11 October 2025, as the union moves from a full national strike to rotating strikes. Despite the resumption of postal services, there will still be some uncertainty and instability owing to the union’s decision to conduct rotating strikes. Customers should expect delays and occasional interruptions to service during the rotating strikes, as Canada Post processes the backlog and stabilizes its operations. Canada Post will employ its best efforts to restore the normal flow of mail items through its network as soon as possible.
